Am 28. Lucerne Blues Festival spielen 12 Formationen im Grand Casino Luzern und präsentieren wieder Blues und Zydeco auf höchstem Niveau. Die Eröffnung findet am 11. November 2023 im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern statt. Das Festival dauert bis am 19. November.
Am 28. Lucerne Blues Festival ist wieder ein Programm erster Güte zu erwarten. Die Ausgabe 2023 steht besonders im Zeichen von jungen, aufstrebenden Talenten, die Bluesfans zuversichtlich in die Zukunft blicken lassen. Mit D.K. Harrell, der in Luzern überhaupt zum ersten Mal in Europa zu sehen ist, Yates McKendrick, McKinley James, Joey J. Saye oder Sean «Mack» McDonald sind «Wunderkinder» zu entdecken, die grosse Karrieren vor sich haben. Luzern erweist sich seit Jahren als Sprungbrett für die Künstler. «Wer am Lucerne Blues Festival besteht, schafft es danach leichter auf andere grosse Bühnen. Da warten spannende Entdeckungen auf uns», sagt Festivalpräsident Martin «Kari» Bründler. Am Lucerne Blues Festival spielen aber wie immer auch Musiker, die längst Legenden-Status haben und nichts mehr beweisen müssen wie die Texas Horns, Dave Weld, Tom Holland, Terrance Simien, Pierre Lacocque oder John Németh.
2023 gibt es eine kleine Änderung im gewohnten Ablauf der Konzertnächte am Donnerstag und Freitag im Panoramasaal im Grand Casino Luzern: Es werden auf der Hauptbühne nur noch drei Acts auftreten, statt wie bisher vier. Weil drei Bands auf der Bühne stehen, werden die Konzerte verlängert, alle dauern neu 90 Minuten. Weil dazu eine Umbaupause entfällt, werden die Konzertnächte am Donnerstag und Freitag im Panoramasaal um Mitternacht zu Ende sein. Am Donnerstag entfällt zudem auch die Überschneidung mit den Konzerten im Casineum, die wie üblich stattfinden. Am Samstag ändert sich gar nichts am bisherigen Ablauf, es stehen vier Bands auf der Hauptbühne, die ersten beiden spielen wie üblich 75 Minuten lange Sets. «Weniger ist mehr», sagt Präsident Bründler. «Wir haben festgestellt, dass sich das Ausgehverhalten verändert hat. In den letzten Jahren hat die Zuschauerzahl bei den späten Konzerten ab Mitternacht im Panoramasaal kontinuierlich abgenommen. Das ist natürlich auch für die Band, welche diesen letzten Slot spielt, nicht optimal. Deshalb haben wir uns entschieden, am Donnerstag und Freitag im Panoramasaal jeweils um Mitternacht die Konzerte zu beenden. Für Nachtschwärmer bleiben die Club-Konzerte im Casineum unverändert bestehen.»
Dieses Jahr finden nicht nur die drei Konzertnächte im Casino Luzern statt, auch alle Rahmenveranstaltungen wie die Blues-Brunches im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern, die Gratis-Eröffnungskonzerte, Blues at School und diverse Firmenanlässe sind wieder im Programm.
Das Eröffnungskonzert am Samstag, 11. November, um 20 Uhr, im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern bestreiten Dave Weld & The Imperial Flames with Special Guest Pierre Lacocque – damit ist schon zur Eröffnung ein erster Höhepunkt garantiert. Das Konzert ist gratis. Ein weiteres Geschenk an die Bluesfans in Luzern ist auch die Festivaleröffnung im Casineum im Grand Casino Luzern am Mittwoch, 15. November, ab 23 Uhr, mit Terrance Simien. Die langen Konzertnächte im Panoramasaal und im Casineum finden von Donnerstag, 16. November bis Samstag, 18. November statt.
Im Programm sind auch wieder die drei beliebten Blues-Brunches im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern. Den ersten am Sonntag, 12. November, bestreiten die Soul Supporters. Das Love Light Orchestra steht am zweiten Blues Brunch am Samstag, 18. November auf der Bühne. Und am Sonntag, 19. November, sorgt Stan Mosley with The Texas Horns für den würdigen Abschluss des Lucerne Blues Festivals 2023. Tickets für die Brunches sind direkt im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern erhältlich. Aufgrund der erfahrungsgemäss sehr grossen Nachfrage empfiehlt sich eine frühzeitige Reservation.
An den drei Konzertnächten im Panoramasaal des Grand Casino Luzern sind die Sitzplätze wieder alle nummeriert und können nur mit Platzkarten benützt werden. Diese beschränkt verfügbaren Platzkarten beinhalten ein Nachtessen (ohne Getränke). Die Platzkarten sind wie die Konzertbillette über Internet erhältlich. Der Vorverkauf für die Konzerte vom 16. bis 18. November 2023 im Grand Casino Luzern läuft ab Montag, 4.September.

At the 28th Lucerne Blues Festival, 12 bands will be playing at the Grand Casino Lucerne and once again present Blues and Zydeco at it’s highest level. The opening show will take place on November 11, 2023 at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne. The festival lasts until November 19th.
At the 28th Lucerne Blues Festival, a first-class program can be expected again. The 2023 edition is particularly characterized by young, up-coming talents that allow Blues fans to look into the future with confidence. With D.K. Harrell, who is appearing in Lucerne for the first time in Europe, Yates McKendrick, McKinley James, Joey J. Saye and Sean "Mack" McDonald are "child prodigies" to be discovered who all will have great careers ahead of them. Lucerne has proven to be a unique platform for artists for years. «Anyone who played the Lucerne Blues Festival makes it easier to get onto other big stages afterwards. Exciting discoveries await us,” says Festival President Martin “Carl” Bruendler. As always, musicians who have already achieved legendary status and no longer have to prove anything, such as the Texas Horns, Dave Weld, Tom Holland, Terrance Simien, Pierre Lacocque or John Németh, also play at the Lucerne Blues Festival.
In 2023 there will be a small change in the usual schedule of the concert nights on Thursday and Friday in the Panorama Hall at the Grand Casino Lucerne: Only three acts will appear on the main stage instead of four as before. Because there are three bands on stage, the concerts are being extended, and they all will last for 90 minutes. Because there is one less changeover break, the concert nights on Thursday and Friday at the Panorama Hall will end at midnight. On Thursday there will also be no overlap with the late night bar shows at the Casineum, which will take place as usual. On Saturday nothing changes compared to previous years, there are four bands on the main stage, the first two will play 75-minute sets as usual. "Less is more," says President Bruendler. “We noticed that going out behavior has changed. In recent years, the number of spectators at the late concerts after midnight at the Panorama Hall has steadily decreased. This is of course not easy for the band playing this last slot. That's why we decided to end the concerts on Thursday and Friday at the Panorama Hall at midnight. For night owls, the club concerts at the Casineum will remain unchanged.”
This year, not only are the three concert nights taking place at the Grand Casino Lucerne, but all supporting events such as the Blues Brunches at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne, the free opening concerts, Blues at Schools and various company events are also back in the program.
Dave Weld & The Imperial Flames with special guest Pierre Lacocque will perform the opening show on Saturday, November 11, at 8:00 p.m. at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne – a first highlight is already guaranteed at this opening. The concert is for free. Another gift for the Blues fans in Lucerne is the opening of the festival at the Casineum at the Grand Casino Lucerne on Wednesday, November 15, from 11:00 p.m., with Terrance Simien. The long concert nights at the Panorama Hall and at the Casineum take place from Thursday, November 16th to Saturday, November 18th.
The program also includes the three popular Blues Brunches at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne. The Soul Supporters will play the first brunch on Sunday, November 12th. The Love Light Orchestra will be on stage for the second Blues Brunch on Saturday, November 18th. And on Sunday, November 19, Stan Mosley with The Texas Horns will bring the Lucerne Blues Festival 2023 to a worthy end. Tickets for the brunches are available directly from the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne. Due to the very high demand the experience has shown an early reservation is recommended.
On the three concert nights at the Panorama Hall at the Grand Casino Lucerne, the seats are again all numbered and can only be used with seat tickets. These limited tickets include dinner (excluding drinks). Like concert tickets, seat reservations are available online. Advance sales for the concerts from November 16th to 18th, 2023 at the Grand Casino Lucerne will start on Monday, September 4th.
