Zum Festivalauftakt gibt es neu eine Charity Night

Am 22. Lucerne Blues Festival spielen wieder 14 Formationen im Grand Casino Luzern und zelebrieren den Blues auf höchstem Niveau. Das traditionelle Gratis-Eröffnungskonzert im Hotel Schweizerhof findet neu im Rahmen der „Valiant Charity Night“ statt. Die freiwilligen Spenden fliessen in die gemeinnützige Weihnachtsaktion der Luzerner Zeitung.

Dem Lucerne Blues Festival ist es gelungen, mit der Valiant Bank zu den bisherigen sieben Hauptsponsoren einen neuen Hauptpartner zu finden. Gemeinsam mit der Bank findet nun erstmals die „Valiant Charity Night“ statt. Künftig werden am Eröffnungskonzert, für das weiterhin kein Eintritt verlangt wird, Spenden für die gemeinnützige Weihnachtskation der Luzerner Zeitung gesammelt. Die Bank Valiant wird den gesammelten Betrag im Rahmen ihres Engagements grosszügig aufstocken und den Check am Sponsorenabend des Lucerne Blues Festivals der Weihnachtsaktion übergeben. „Wir wollen damit der Stadt und der Region, mit der wir eine langjährige Verbundenheit haben, etwas zurückgeben“, sagt Festivalpräsident Martin Bründler. „Die Valiant Bank verzichtet auf einen Kundenanlass und will stattdessen mithelfen, der professionell geführten Weihnachtsaktion weitere finanzielle Mittel für bedürftige Personen aus der Region zur Verfügung stellen.“

Das Eröffnungskonzert an der „Valiant Charity Night“ am Samstag, 5.11.2016, um 20 Uhr im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern bestreiten B.B. & The Blues Shacks, die von früheren Auftritten in Luzern bereits bestens bekannt sind und mit ihrem authentischen, traditionellen Rhythm & Blues, Blues und Soul zum Austoben und Dahinschmelzen mit Garantie für die erste Party am Lucerne Blues Festival 2016 sorgen werden.
 
Musikalisch bleibt sich das Lucerne Blues Festival auch an der 22. Ausgabe treu. Am Start sind Legenden oder Soul- und Bluesikonen wie Lou Ann Barton, Lazy Lester, Otis Grand, Earl Thomas oder das exklusiv für Luzern kreierte Projekt Muddy 101 mit namhaften Weggefährten von Muddy Waters wie John Primer. Erwähnenswert sind sicher auch die Brüder Dave & Phil Alvin, die nach langer Trennung heute besser sind denn je. Nichts mehr beweisen müssen Künstler wie Carl Weathersby, JW-Jones, die das Luzerner Publikum schon in früheren Jahren begeistert haben.

Wie bereits mitgeteilt, musste Denise LaSalle ihren Auftritt aus gesundheitlichen Gründen leider absagen. Mit Bettye LaVette konnte mehr als nur ein Ersatz für Denise LaSalle verpflichtet werden. Bettye LaVette, die mit ihrem Auftritt am Lucerne Blues Festival 2008 für Begeisterung sorgte, wird anstelle von Denise LaSalle das Konzert am Freitag, 11.11.2016, auf der Hauptbühne im Grand Casino Luzern sowie den Blues Brunch vom Sonntag, 13.11.2016, im Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern bestreiten. Natürlich werden wir versuchen, Denise LaSalle für eines unseres kommenden Festivals verpflichten.

A Charity Night for the festival opening

At the 22nd Lucerne Blues Festival 14 formations will play again at the Grand Casino Lucerne and celebrate the blues at the highest level. The traditional free opening concert at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne will recently take place within the scope of the “Valiant Charity Night”. The voluntary donations flow into the charitable Christmas campaign of the Luzerner Zeitung.

In addition to the seven existing main sponsors, the Lucerne Blues Festival has succeeded in finding with the Valiant Bank a new main partner. Together with the bank, the “Valiant Charity Night” will take place for the first time. At that event donations will be collected for the non-profit Christmas campaign of the Luzerner Zeitung at the opening concert. No entry fee has to be paid for this concert. Bank Valiant will raise the collected amount generously as part of its commitment and will pass the check on the sponsors evening of the Lucerne Blues Festival to the Christmas campaign. "We want to give something back to the city and the region with which we have a long-standing relationship", says Festival President Martin Bründler. "The Valiant Bank waives a customer event and instead wants to help provide the professionally managed Christmas campaign with additional financial resources for those in need."
At the opening concert of the “Valiant Charity Night” on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 8 p.m. at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne, B.B. & The Blues Shacks will perform on stage. They are already well-known from previous appearances in Lucerne and will be up to melt away the audience with their authentic, traditional Rhythm & Blues, Blues & Soul – and they are a guarantee for the first party at the Lucerne Blues Festival 2016.

Also at the 22nd edition the Lucerne Blues Festival remains musically true to itself. At the start are legends or soul and blues icons like Lou Ann Barton, Lazy Lester, Otis Grand, Earl Thomas or the exclusively for Lucerne formed project “Muddy 101” with well-known companions of Muddy Waters like John Primer. Also worth mentioning are certainly the brothers Dave & Phil Alvin, who have come together again after a long separation and they are better than ever. Artists like Carl Weathersby, JW-Jones or B.B & The Blues Shacks, who thrilled the audience in Lucerne in the previous years, don’t have to prove anything.

As already announced, unfortunately, Denise LaSalle had to cancel her appearance for health reasons. With Bettye LaVette, we were able to commit more than just a substitute for Denise LaSalle. Bettye LaVette, who caused excitement with her performance at the Lucerne Blues Festival 2008, will perform the concert instead of Denise LaSalle on Friday, November 11th, 2016, on the main stage at the Grand Casino Lucerne, as well as the Blues Brunch on Sunday, November 13th, 2016, at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne. Of course, we will try to oblige Denise LaSalle for one of our upcoming festivals.
