Das Lucerne Blues Festival reduziert Programm und Gästezahl
Herausragende internationale Blues-Künstler in einer einmaligen persönlichen Atmosphäre erleben – das war und ist das Herz des Lucerne Blues Festivals! Und dieses Jahr wird es noch persönlicher. Aufgrund der nach wie vor nicht absehbaren Entwicklung der Coronapandemie findet das 26. Lucerne Blues Festival im kleineren Rahmen vom 11. bis 13. November statt. Das Programm wird reduziert und ausser Blues at School wird auf Rahmenaktivitäten wie die Blues-Brunches verzichtet.
Das Lucerne Blues Festival will seinem Konzept und seinen Qualitätsansprüchen treu bleiben. Weiterhin werden vorwiegend hochkarätige Bluesmusiker aus Amerika für das Luzerner Publikum eingeflogen. Nach wie vor ist die Situation für Veranstalter aber äusserst unsicher, niemand kann absehen, wie sich die Situation im November präsentiert und welche Vorschriften dann gelten. «Wir müssen mit einem Konzept arbeiten, das für uns wirtschaftlich auch dann tragbar ist, falls es zu kurzfristigen Einschränkungen oder gar zu einer erneuten Verschiebung des Festivals kommen müsste», erklärt Martin Bründler, Präsident des Vereins Lucerne Blues Festival. Massgebend sind somit der weitere Verlauf der Pandemie, allfällige Reisebeschränkungen, beispielsweise durch Quarantänevorschriften, oder die Flugmöglichkeiten an sich.
Das 26. Lucerne Blues Festival wird deshalb in kleinem Rahmen stattfinden. Vom Donnerstag bis Samstag, 11. bis 13. November, wird es im Grand Casino Luzern drei Konzertabende geben, an denen ein wie üblich hochstehendes, aber abgespecktes Programm mit weniger Bands als üblich präsentiert wird. Das Publikum wird die Konzerte sitzend mitverfolgen, die Anzahl Gäste wird stark limitiert, damit immer genügend Mindestabstand eingehalten werden kann. Auf das Rahmenprogramm wie die drei Blues-Brunches, das Gratis-Eröffnungskonzert oder das Bespielen der Bühne im Casineum wird verzichtet. Dies hat angesichts des verkleinerten Programms auch mit logistischen Gründen zu tun. Hingegen wird der Unterrichtsbesuch mit Konzert in der Kantonsschule Reussbühl durch die Musiker im Rahmen von Blues at school im möglichen Rahmen durchgeführt.
„Wir wollen während des Festivals für die gesundheitliche Sicherheit aller Musikerinnen und Musiker sowie Besucherinnen und Besucher soweit möglich garantieren können. Gleichzeitig sollen aber auch alle Gäste die Konzerte und die Club-Atmosphäre ohne Maske geniessen können. Und schliesslich ist es uns wichtig, dass alle Bluesfreunde unabhängig von Zertifikaten oder Impfungen Zutritt haben.“ so Martin Bründler zu den weiteren Gründen, die für das diesjährige Ausnahmekonzept gesprochen haben.
Die Festivalmacher sind überzeugt, damit auf der sicheren Seite zu stehen, auch wenn im Herbst wieder nationale oder internationale Corona-Massnahmen ergriffen werden sollten, was natürlich niemand hofft. «Es ist für uns extrem wichtig, unser 25-jähriges Festival auch über diese Krise hinaus für die Zukunft zu sichern. Für 2022 hoffen wir natürlich, dass wir dann endlich wieder im gewohnten Rahmen organisieren können», betont Martin Bründler.

The Lucerne Blues Festival is reducing its program and the number of guests
The 26th Lucerne Blues Festival will take place in a club atmosphere
Experience outstanding international Blues artists in a unique personal atmosphere - that was and is the heart of the Lucerne Blues Festival! And this year it will be even more personal. Due to the still unforeseeable development of the corona pandemic the 26th Lucerne Blues Festival will take place on a smaller scale from November 11th to 13th. The program will be reduced and apart from Blues at Schools there will be no supporting shows such as Blues brunches.
The Lucerne Blues Festival wants to stick to its concept and its quality standards that mainly Blues musicians from America are flown in exclusively for the Lucerne audience. As before the situation for organizers is extremely uncertain, no one can foresee how the pandemic situation will look like in November and which regulations will then apply. "We have to work with a concept that is economically manageable for us even in the event of short-term restrictions or even another postponement of the festival," explains Martin Bruendler, President of the Lucerne Blues Festival. The further development of the corona pandemic, any travel restrictions, for example due to quarantine regulations, or the flight options themselves are decisive.
The 26th Annual Lucerne Blues Festival will therefore take place on a smaller scale. From Thursday to Saturday, November 11th to 13th, there will be three concert evenings at the Grand Casino Lucerne, with as usual high-quality performances but slimmed-down program with fewer bands than usual. The audience will be seated to enjoy the concerts. The number of guests is strictly limited so that a sufficient minimum distance can always be granted. The supporting program such as the three Blues brunches, the free opening concert or playing on the late-night stage at the Casineum will be cancelled for this year. The reduced program also has to do with logistical reasons due the actual uncertain situation.
“During the festival we want to be able to grant the health safety of all musicians and visitors as far as possible. At the same time all guests should be able to enjoy the concerts and the club atmosphere without a mask. And finally it is important to us that all Blues fans have access regardless of certificates or vaccinations,” says Martin Bruendler with respect to this year's exceptional concept.
The festival organizers are convinced that they are on the safe side even if national or international corona measures should be taken again in autumn, which of course no one hopes. “It is extremely important for us to secure our 25-years old festival for the future even after this crisis. For 2022 we hope for sure that we can finally organize again within the usual framework,” emphasizes Martin Bründler.
